Giving a perfect blend of exhilarating performance, sophisticated comfort, and everyday usability, the 3 Series embodies a true performance and utility vehicle. However, this high-level, complex German engineering requires accurate repair and proper maintenance. Tanner Motors gives you top-notch BMW auto service for all your repair and maintenance needs of your BMW 3 Series car in Phoenix.
The BMW 3 Series features a rear-wheel-drive platform with xDrive all-wheel drive, a near 50/50 weight distribution, and responsive performance engines. Currently, the 3 Series lineup comprises the 3 Series Sedan and the M3 Sedan, with models such as the 330i, the M340i, and the 330e plug-in hybrid.
In addition to these, several 3 Series models are still around despite being discontinued. These include the 3 Series Coupe, Convertible, Wagon (also known as Sports Wagon), and Gran Turismo.
Symptoms such as a low coolant warning light on the dashboard, a sweet, syrupy smell of antifreeze in the cabin, or coolant puddles under the car indicate a coolant leak in the BMW 330i. The plastic and composite parts, like the upper radiator hose in the cooling system, after thousands of heat cycles, degrade and become brittle and cracked.
At our shop in Phoenix, our technician performs a pressure test on the cooling system to pinpoint the exact source of the leak. Upon finding the faulty plastic component, it is replaced with an upgraded aluminum flange for long-term durability. After repairs, the cooling system is then bled of air and refilled with BMW-specific coolant.
The PCV system failure causes increased oil consumption, a high-pitched whistling sound during idling, a rough idle, smoke from the exhaust, and fault codes related to engine ventilation. This happens due to the tearing of the diaphragm inside the Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve.
Using a BMW-specific scanner, our technicians run engine diagnostics to pinpoint the malfunction in the PCV valve. As the PCV system is part of the valve cover, the repair involves replacing the entire valve cover assembly. This is a labor-intensive job involving ignition coils, fuel injectors, and various sensor connections.
The window regulators on the Coupe models lift and lower the window glass. However, the long, heavy, frameless doors on coupes put significant stress on the plastic pulleys and steel cables within the regulator assembly, causing the components to wear out and eventually snap. This causes the window to drop into the door, get stuck, or move crookedly.
Technicians at our Phoenix shop remove the interior door panel to access the regulator. Then the entire regulator assembly is unbolted and replaced with a new OEM-made unit.

BMW recommends replacing the air filter every 20,000 to 30,000 miles. However, this frequency increases when driving in dusty conditions. A clogged air filter can reduce engine performance and fuel efficiency; thus, check its condition frequently.
BMW vehicles need brand-specific engine oil that is compatible with 3-series engines. Use synthetic oil meeting BMW Longlife-01 or Longlife-14+ standards, typically 0W-30 or 5W-30. The exact specification can be found in your owner's manual.
Power loss in the engine can stem from various issues, including a clogged air filter, faulty spark plugs, a failing fuel pump, vacuum leaks, or problems with the turbocharger. A diagnostic scan using BMW-specific scanners can pinpoint the origin of the issue.
Brake fluid in BMWs is recommended to be changed every two years, regardless of the mileage covered. Brake fluid is a hygroscopic fluid and absorbs moisture over time. However, if you encounter brake issues, consult a professional and inspect the brake fluid condition.
